Existence of Gravitational waves was proved mathematically about a century ago by the popular German Physicist Albert Einstein. While in a recent successful experiment a team from MIT was able to detect such waves. This was considered as one of the breakthrough discoveries in human history.
Imagine how powerful is mathematics, it told us things a century ago that we are discovering now. So the questions arises in our minds is, what are these waves? what significance they have in our lives?
This is definition of Gravitational waves as given on wikipedia, “Gravitational waves are ripples in the curvature of spacetime that propagate as waves, generated in certain gravitational interactions and traveling outward from their source.”
These waves can transport energy as gravitational radiations in forms of waves but too tiny. With these waves scientists will be able to know things as earlier as big bang. These waves are rich in information compared to light waves. As light gets diffracted, reflected or lost when it encounters something, but gravitational waves are effected due to such hindrances.
