No need to worry about the unsightly scratches and other dirt on your smartphone? A Japanese company has come up with the novel solution to the problem, the world’s first smartphone that can be washed. Although there were waterproof phones but not detergent proof. This is an additional feature to smartphone technology.
The idea is derived from waterproof smartphone technology. But telecom company KDDI says its new “Digno rafre” phone that is to be launched in Japan next week is the only one that can withstand a soapy bath.
“Our development team washed the smartphone more than 700 times to test its durability,” KDDI spokesman.
The technology was introduced with a commercial that features a child dropping the phone onto a plate of food topped with ketchup. His mother assures her shocked family that those red globs are nothing to worry about as she soaps up the phone under a running tap.
The KDDI’s phone is priced at 21,600 yen ($175).
The gadget is mainly aimed at parents who want to keep their smartphones clean (bacteria free) for their small children, according to a KDDI spokesperson.
It need to noted that only certain types of foamy soap could be used on the device, which will only be sold in Japan for now. So still there is debate whether this is a just as waterproof phones or a simple exception. For this The firm would need to make phones that is resistant to every type of soaps and detergents.
